Yep, this is a conversation that we need to have. To not have it is to continue to give the devil a foothold on this great gift that our Creator created for a husband and wife to enjoy together within the bond of marriage. The 66 books of the Bible actually contain the word "sex" or speak about it over 100 times. To not speak about it, makes it ugly, but to speak about with unbiblical truth also makes it ugly. We live in a world, that since sin entered into it, this gift of sex has been abused and distorted. All of us have different stories with how we first learned about it, stories of how sexual sin has impacted us, some of us have painful stories, and some of us, our cringing reading this blog.
What I want to say is this: I am so thankful for Jesus, His first disciples, and His Word because they dealt with sex head-on and did not avoid speaking truth about it as it pertains to a husband and wife, and also the temptation and sins that are real on this side of eternity. There seems to be more confusion than ever when it comes to sex and what Jesus and His scriptures have to say about it. Living in the United States in 2019 we are still called to live with both grace and truth. We are, Trinity, and this weekend in worship we will be opening up the scriptures of Jesus, and we will be answering questions about what Jesus really believed about sex, sin, truth, and grace.
