By: Rev. Dr. Scott Sommerfeld, Interim Senior Pastor
Many years ago the wise leaders of Trinity determined that after seven years of pastoral service a six-week sabbatical would refresh and renew her pastors for ongoing faithful service at Trinity. The seven year mark has long since past. The blessing of this “Sabbath time” will be even more valuable this spring after Pastor Justin marks his 11th year of service at Trinity.
I am very excited that the Elders, Church Council and the entire Staff are all leaning in to support and encourage Pastor Justin as he prepares for six weeks “unplugging” from the daily press of life as a pastor so he can be strengthened in His calling. His sabbatical will start the day after Easter and continue through Mother’s Day, for a total of six weeks.
It is a time he expects to read the entire Bible by using his new ESV study Bible. He also is setting up ways to further his personal growth and experience in the area of leadership. In the coming weeks we will have more to share. For now I ask you to pray for him as he prepares for this experience and for all the staff as we seek to support his ongoing work while he “steps away” for a time of renewal and refreshment.
Will you join me in praying God’s richest blessings on this Sabbath time for Pastor Justin and his ministry at Trinity?
