In a world of disappointment where does our dedication come from? As a coach of sports, dedication vs disappointment is part of every play. Where does the dedication come from? As a marriage counselor and a family counselor dedication is stronger in parents than in marriages. Why? Where does dedication, faithfulness, perseverance, steadfastness and resilience come from? This weekend in worship as we finish our “Guard your Heart” series we are going to unpack the tools God has given us to remain dedicated even in the midst of disappointment. For now let me share this truth with you from Hebrews 12:1-3:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
May our Father who is faithful invade our hearts with His truth, may our Savior Jesus increase our faith in Him, and may the Holy Spirit that lives in us give us an extra measure of dedication this weekend to continue to live lives worthy of God's callings in our lives.
