The great Martin Luther once said, “To live is to praise (Leben ist Loben).” How true this is of life for all who know the true and living God! Those who truly know the true and living God are truly blessed for they know Him who is ever faithful and they know they live under His loving shadow.
King David, in the Book of Psalms, expresses so often his praise of God for His loving care and protection. In times of fear and sorrow, David cries out to the Lord for help. David truly knew the Lord and the Lord knew David and it created in David a sense of trust and hope in the Lord.
The real treasury that David had was not his great material wealth but David’s relationship with the Lord. It was the relationship with the Lord that continually blessed and enriched David’s life. When everything in David’s life failed him, the Lord did not fail him! His Lord was the source of his praise and thankfulness.
This month, most of us will gather with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. We shall thank God, as we rightly should, for all our material blessings but let us not forget our greatest blessing. Our greatest blessing is that God in His mercy has loved us and called us into life eternal in Jesus Christ. The closer we walk with the Lord, the more we see His glory and goodness. Each day we live becomes the occasion to praise Him for His love and mercy. We begin to see and understand that to live is to praise our God.
Please make time for you and your entire family to give thanks to God for all he has given you. Worship with us on Wednesday, November 23rd at 7:00pm at our Thanksgiving Eve service or on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24th at 9:00am.
Come and count your blessings with your Trinity family!
