As the school year and the ministry year at Trinity come to an end, I have had some time to reflect as to what God has been up to this past year in and through Trinity. What became clear to not only myself, but also our staff, is that God was up to A LOT. Thousands of people were ministered to, hundreds of new people and new staff came on board, new ministries were started, and existing ministries continued to move forward. Looking at this past year has spurred us on to get excited about what is to come, while reminding us what our purpose is. It also gave us a moment to reflect on lessons learned and trials that we have been through together.
So for a moment I would like for you to think about what God has been up to in your own life over the past 12 months. I know we usually reflect on a thought like this around New Year’s, our birthday, or perhaps an anniversary, but let’s do it now. How have you grown as a disciple of Jesus this past year? What new faith experiences have you had? What new things has God brought into your life? What existing things have continued to grow and move forward? How has God strengthened your faith through trials?
God’s Word says in Hebrews 10:39, “We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.” Life on this side of eternity will give us challenges. Jesus said, “We will have trouble.” Yet Jesus is always asking us through it all, “Where is your faith?” I pray that we will not shrink back in the mission that He has called us into as His church. God is on the move and He has been moving through Trinity and through our lives. May we continue to trust in Jesus, and may He give us more courageous faith as we move forward sharing Christ’s story with love through Trinity, in our homes, in our work place, and in our neighborhoods.
